City Government of Crystal Lake

Crystal Lake's city manager form of government is ruled by a city council of four council members and a mayor. Residents are encouraged to participate in the twice monthly council meetings, and it isn't unusual to find Crystal Laker's speaking out on a variety of subjects. The meetings are shown twice weekly on local access cable TV channels.
City hall is located at: 100 W. Municipal Complex, off Woodstock Street and just west of the downtown area. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone 815.459.2020 for information about the city or its ordinances, or click here for the Crystal Lake City Hall web site.
New residents must dispaly a vehicle sticker on cars, trucks, and motorcycles within 30 days of moving to Crystal Lake. Your city sticker entitles you to use the public beaches on the lake. City Hall is also the place you can obtain recycling bins for the curbside recycling program, and register to vote.
For children under age 17, Crystal Lake ordinances establish a curfew time of 11 p.m. on weekdays and 12:10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The McHenry County seat is located in the brand new County Government Center in Woodstock. There, you can find offices for all county officials, the county board, the county courts, and the sheriff. New residents must register to vote.
